The sale continues on Friday, July 18 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. All day Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., will be the ever popular “Bag Sale.” Fill a paper grocery bag as full as you can for only $4.
Thousands of books, movies, music cds, and computer games will be for sale. Most books are only 25 cents, with new and popular books selling for $1. Cds, movies, computer games, packs of magazines, and books-on-tape are also $1. Harlequin romances may be purchased for a dime. Sets of encyclopedias and reference books are reasonably marked per set.
Take advantage of the sale to stock your home library, find books to take on vacation, or add to your music or video collections.
Also available for purchase will be canvas book bags with the Colby Public Library imprint on them. Patrons have proclaimed them to be “the perfect size,” and they are available in a wide variety of colors. At $10 each, they are a bargain and are sure to prove useful to both adults and children.
Current members of the Friends of The Colby Public Library are reminded that a “bakeless” bake sale will also be held. No need to bake—no calories—no cleanup. A simple donation to the “Bakeless Bake Sale” fund is all you need to do. Members who have not paid dues for 2014 are reminded to take care of these.
Do you want to become a Friend of the Colby Public Library? Memberships will be available at the book sale or you can sign up at anytime in the library. Currently, the Friends group lends a hand with the local Alzheimer’s Memorial weekend bake sale, helps with the Cheese Days book sale in July, sponsors its own bake sale Labor Day weekend at Nicolet National Bank in Colby, works at the Colby Lions’ Smelt Feed in April, and assists with library open houses throughout the year. An annual meeting with guest speakers is held in March.
Proceeds from the book sale will be used to improve patron and staff areas in the Colby Public Library. Donations for the sale are accepted year round. The Friends request that only saleable items in good condition without garage sale stickers and no Reader’s Digest Condensed Books or magazines be donated, please.
Mark your calendars for the Colby Cheese Days Book/Movie Sale 2014 on July 17-19.
